Types & Conditions

ISTAS'13 invited original and unpublished work from individuals active in the broad theme of the conference.

  • Acceptance of papers will be communicated to authors by email.
  • All papers conformed to submission guidelines to be peer reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical and/or research content/depth, correctness, relevance to conference, contributions, and readability.
  • Authors submited their papers online.

We welcomed submissions for ISTAS's Technical Program in the following areas and not limited to:

  • Wearable Computing - cell-phone view, webcams, necklacedome, wearcams, wearcomp, wristwatch computer, point-of-view technologies, mobile CCTV, EyeTap, Google Glasses, sensors, nanotechnology, biomedical devices, implantables, skinput, affective computing, body area networks, cyborgs, interaction-design;
  • Augmediated Reality - vision systems, graphical-based systems, multimedia, interactive systems, location-based services, geolocation mapping, Web 3.0, 4G, sensory inputs, biofeedback, augmented reality, diminished reality, mediated reality, reality mining, remembrance agents, humanistic intelligence, artificial intelligence;
  • The Veillances - surveillance, counter surveillance, dataveillance, sousveillance, equiveillence, inequiveillence, mcveillance, uberveillance, veillance studies, obtrusive, unobtrusive, secret, covert, priveillance, uber analytics, big dat
  • Everyday Life - data logging, moblogging, glogging, lifelogging, 24x7 ubiquitous audio-visual recording, state/condition monitoring, permission (opt-out/opt-in), private space, public space, transparent society;

Additional Papers


Additional papers on other traditional fields of interest to SSIT were welcome.

ISTAS '13 will be a transdisciplinary event for engineers, designers, scientists, artists, researchers in the social sciences, law and humanities, decision makers, entrepreneurs, inventors, commercializers, etc., as well as polymaths, and anyone who is a DASSTEMist (Designer, Artist, Sustainist, Scientist, Technologist, Engineer, and Mathematician).

Guidelines

Guidelines on the manuscript preparation are available in the template. If your manuscript does not adhere to the IEEE template it will not be sent out for peer review. 


IEEE Authors Kit

LaTeX users please access the IEEE Authors Kit that contains LaTeX files and other resources. * Note - Independent of which version you use, you must submit two (2) copies - one in the native format and the other in .pdf format template


Submissions

  • Authors are invited to submit their abstract (presentation only) or full papers in English.
  • Authors who wish to submit more than one paper may do so using the same online submission process.
  • Authors who do not have an account should first create an account on the EasyChair submission system.
  • At least one author must be registered for a paper to be published in the proceedings.

Paper Length - Details

Any paper shorter than 6 pp may be considered for the Program but will not be sent out for peer review. In addition, any paper over 10 pp will be sent back to authors for revision on length.

Papers must be between six and twelve pages. Your total world count can be between 4,000 - 8,000 words.


Review Process

  • All papers that conform to submission guidelines will be peer reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical and/or research content/depth, correctness, relevance to conference, contributions, and readability.
  • Acceptance of papers will be communicated to authors by email.
