A Wearable Pioneer - Hubert W. Upton of Bell

The following video is a must-see for anyone interested in historical aspects of wearables. I was very moved to see this 'old' footage of Hubert W. Upton of Bell, despite that the backdrop of the documentary related wearables to advanced applications in the military.

Upton describes "hearing through seeing" using his wearable device. He states that his wearable design began as a personal project.

Compare the statement of "hearing through seeing" by Upton with Daniel Kish's "seeing through hearing" for which he practices the "echolocation" technique. The PopTech talk below demonstrates Kish's spirit to inspire the blind to see without necessarily needing to wait for advances in retinal implant systems.
